Eden Valley Fours League: Last Thursday Keswick started their 2012 season campaign in fine style when both the men's and women's teams secured maximum wins at home against Shap. Last season Keswick had a great opportunity to win the men's league and actually did the double over Shap who, nonetheless, went on to win the league for their first time. Arguably some poor results against weaker teams cost Keswick the title. Team captain Shaun Flood will be hoping for better things this year. Results: Men - Donald Holme, Shaun Flood, Alan Dalzell & Craig Phillips won 17-10; Syd Horsfield, Harry Morter, Dave Brannan & Robin Phillips won 18-17 (having led 18-5 at one stage) and Derryck Corrighan, Mike Cooper, Colin Jackson & Derek Massingham won 16-13. Women - Judith Arnold, Margaret Ambler, Pam Gardiner & Lyn Hazell won 18-11 and Maureen Clarke, Vera Petre, Glenda Holme & Sandy Emmerson won 21-10.
